FIRE DEPT. MANAGEMENT/OPERATIONS
Chief James F. McMullen and his team at TMC provide consulting services for fire department management and operations. Providing expert knowledge in labor relations, wrongful termination of fire department staff, fire-fighting operations, fire department organization and emergency response review.
Chief McMullen has served as State Fire Marshal and was responsible for training and certification for firefighters in the State of California. He has also served as Fire Chief and several other Fire Service positions. This experience and hands on knowledge give us a complete understanding of fire operations and management.
FIRE PROTECTION CONSTRUCTION
We provide evaluation of performance during a fire and/or compliance with applicable codes, laws and standards. TMC maintains an extensive library of codes, laws, and standards, which include numerous archival documents for historic evaluations of fire resistivity construction requirements for forensic support of construction defects or construction management.
FIRE PROTECTION EQUIPMENT
Our expert consultant team provides evaluation of fire protection equipment for litigation support or management analysis, including fixed systems and portable appliances. Fixed systems include fire sprinkler (residential and commercial), fire suppression, fire alarm, smoke detector, carbon monoxide detection systems and equipment, fire hydrant and standpipe systems. Portable fire protection appliances include fire extinguisher usage, placement and/or failure.
FIRE SAFETY PRODUCT ANALYSIS
Our fire safety product analysis includes the evaluation and testing of fire safety products for introduction or expansion into the fire and life safety marketplace. Additionally, we can provide inspection, evaluation, and testing for litigation support relating to product defects.
WILDFIRE AND WILDLAND URBAN INTERFACE
TMC has extensive expertise in firefighting operations and have served on numerous groups and committees developing codes, standards and laws regarding urban wildland issues. This includes wildfire spread, cause and origin, fires relating to electrical wires and power lines. Our wildland fire experts have consulted on cases reducing billing charges from fire agencies in the millions. Chief McMullen has developed several fire safety code standards including standards regarding the distance between vegetation and power lines. We have provided fire testimony and litigation support on numerous major wildfires including San Diego Wildfires, Oakland Berkeley Hills Fire and the Island Fire (Catalina).
